Winner's New Year
Luke 18:22
Now when Jesus heard these things, He said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
I love this scripture because at the end it says "Come follow me." It's at the end, which sometimes in life it seems last minute, last time we try, last thing we do, is our answer or our chance to "change things." How many last chances are we going to get? How many times can we make the same mistake? How many times are we going to stay the same? How many times do we need to be told what to do?
I really hope 2024 is a year that we all grow a lot, grow spiritually, physically, and mentally. Let’s take up our cross and bear it, let's give up that thing we know we don’t want too, "because it is too hard”. Let’s face that trial, face our fears,”Don't let your fear decide your fate." Even though some of the motivation we have is from the date changing to 2024. We should be constantly trying to grow. In any realm of our life, life never was going to be easy and that's the beauty of it. "Adam fell that men might be, that they might have joy."
This year let's not be our worst enemy because we have agency. We choose our path, we choose what we do, we choose who we become and WE have SO many tools to help us get there. The scriptures, praying, the Book of Mormon, Prophets, Apostles and they ALL point towards Jesus Christ.
He wants us to be great, He wants us to be our best, He wants us to return to live with Him and have all that He has. Imagine having someone who wants to give you all they have. Someone who wants you to be better everyday, someone who has so much they want you to experience, learn and enjoy in this life, you can’t comprehend it? No need to imagine, Jesus Christ and the Father want us to reach our incomprehensible potential.
When we workout we break our muscles down to make them stronger, but it's not always how much weight we lift, or how much we do, but sometimes it's what we eat that heavily impacts our results. Just like working out, sometimes we have to break ourselves down to come back stronger than before. President Nelson says, "Abandon old habits." Everyone wants the easy route to the hardest things. That's why it's those people who do the hardest things (work) have things that those who choose not to put in the work desire.
Let's have a Winner's New Life. I know Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father love us and they want more than the best for us, embrace the hard times, embrace the difficulty life brings and "endure to the end with joy.”
