The Lords Work & Our Part In It
These past few weeks have been great, you will see from the pictures below that the Lord blessed us with a baptism! We have been teaching Lana for some time and we went over there and we felt impressed to put her on date for baptism. I asked if she wanted to in 3 DAYS, and she was ready. She had her interview the next day and passed it. She got baptized and it was wonderful! The spirit was there and she was very excited, after she was baptized she put her arms in the air and said finally! It was such a blessing to help her on this path and it was a blessing to have a ward that helped us get it all set up in time.
We have one of our friends Blake come and join us for basketball at the church. He loves it, he may be 14 but he is a good player for his age. We have been teaching his family for awhile and every time we go over there, Elder Omorogbe and I can feel the love the Lord has for them. It's hard to see the potential in people when they don't see it in themselves. I can only imagine how the Lord feels when he sees our eternal potential, when we don't see it ourselves.
Recently I have seen how much a Patriarchal blessing is a blessing in our life and recently it has popped up in more of my conversations. One example is we have been meeting with a member in her home and her neighbor who is a non-member. As we were teaching the plan of salvation, she started to get emotional about what her purpose is here. I instantly thought of the Patriarchal blessing and how much it has meant to me. I constantly think about the gifts I have and how I can use them to bless others. I invite you all to think about yours and the gifts you have and pray for opportunities to use your gifts so you can improve them. If you don't have a blessing, study and learn about them, and see if it’s time you receive one. As we talked with her about it, she instantly lit up with hope and yearning for this blessing. She invited us to come with her, I was humbled by that. It truly is a blessings to be where I am as a missionary, with the privilege to take part in the most important work. I can only imagine how the Lord feels about this work, his yearning and his feelings of urgency to help his children learn about the Gospel. I know without a doubt that everything good comes from God as we read in the scriptures, it's all about improvement, it's all about becoming like Jesus Christ.
We are truly lucky to have the best role model to look up to and learn from. I feel we all have a desire to become better, rather it be our physical appearance, our mentality, our circumstances, we all want to be happy and live a best life and I know the Gospel is the perfect outline for it. I have seen how those simple truths of the Gospel, like Faith, is just hoping things will get better, repentance, which is putting in the work and doing the things we know we should do. Then baptism which is that gift that God gives us to help us along the journey and as we continue to do it, we become more like Jesus Christ.
It's all possible through him, I believe he cares more about what we can become, rather than who we are now. We are only 53 days into the new year, how do you want to see yourself in the next 53? Hopefully not in the same place you are in now. Now's the time, why wait? The blessings are WAITING for you, and how wonderful it is to know that those blessings he gives us are exactly what we need, when we need it. He knows us perfectly and he does all he can to help us. I know I wouldn't be here without him. I love him and he loves you, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
