Elder Kendrick

Sister Kendrick,

Elder Goates and I are senior missionaries serving in the Michigan Detroit Mission, specifically in Pontiac. Our district includes Clarkston where your son has just served for six months. The last six weeks, as you know, he was our district leader. We have enjoyed getting to know and work with Elder Kendrick so much, and we were sad to see him leave us at transfers.

We did not work very much with Elder Kendrick as his area did not bring him to Pontiac; however, we taught a class for Spanish-speaking students and their families in the Clarkston building for six weeks. We did not have a key, but members were participating and should have been there to let us in. They have families and jobs, and sometimes they were late. We called on the Clarkston elders several times to rescue us, and they were always kind and gracious.

We did enjoy district council meetings, Zone and District PDays, and our monthly district dinners with him. Our district thrived under his leadership when he was district leader. Previously our district had some difficulties, and his mellow attitude and nonjudgmental leadership helped to build unity and confidence in the district. He is a great young man.

His companions always seemed happy with him, and I know that a few former companions called him after they left our district to ask for advice about their current companions.

We just really enjoyed serving with him and wanted to let you know what a wonderful young man he is. I'm guessing you already knew that.

Thanks for sharing him with us.
