Ohio
Change of plans. This is life. As you all know I was told I was going downtown, not down state. However some things happened in the other district so now I'm follow up training in Freemont Ohio!
Though it is Ohio, my new companion, Elder Blatter is a great kid. We have fun and work together very well. He impresses me with how good he is with only being out for 7 weeks.
As I've been here I have seen how people had a bad attitude about coming to Ohio and how its affected the areas and the people here. There were weeks where the missionaries just did’t do anything.... because it's Ohio. What a poor attitude to have for the Lords work in a different spot. I hope to be able to encourage others here to work hard, it doesn't matter where you are. Seems like some people in life don't want to work hard.
Something I've learned on my mission is nothing is hard when you want to do it
It's just what you do, when you actually want it bad enough.
So those things that you want to do, why don't you?
Though I don't have much time left on my mission, I want to grab the mission (bull) by the horns and make the most of it.
One thing I studied this week was accountability. This is a quote I found;
"Latter-day Saints understand that mortal life was purposefully designed to place us in circumstances where we can be individually tested and where, by the exercise of the agency God has given us, we can determine what our future possibilities will be."
Everything we do exercises our agency
Everything we do effects what will happen in our life.
Winning easily doesn't feel as good as winning with struggle.
We have many things here to keep us accountable and help us stretch our ability.
hopefully we are in a good friend group who supports us and encourage us to do better.
Hopefully our family does that as well.
The Holy Ghost helps nudge us to be better.
God gives us opportunities to learn and grow
Our leaders should set the example and help us grow closer to Christ.
I had quite the perspective change this week, I was talking with a friend I consider to be family and as we were talking, he said this
"Man created competition, God did not."
Sometimes we get wrapped up in competing with others and what they have, we forget that
God does not care if we are better than others.
He cares if we are better than who we were yesterday.
Are you striving to be better?
Not for others, but for God and yourself.
You are held accountable for your actions, not theirs, Don't let it affect you.
Be accountable to yourself and God
