Why?

Why don't you do hard things?

Why do you do the things you shouldn't?

Why don't you always pick the better option?

You know it's better for you.

But you don’t do it.

You pick the easier option.

You find the easiest way to do the minimum amount of work.

Every second you waste shows you don’t want it bad enough.

This is the natural man, which as we read in Mosiah 3:18, is an enemy to God unless, you become as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, and willing to submit your will to the Father.

As I have been on my mission, I have seen how the Lord stretches us. He wants us to grow. He loves us too much to leave us where we are. He gives us an opportunity to learn and grow. We just have to be willing to see it that way.

One example, this week we were out knocking and this lady immediately says " I've been praying for a sign or message from God and then you showed up."

We ended up teaching her about Gods plans and the gospel. I told her that making a covenant with God is what she needs. We gave her a pamphlet and said we'd like to follow up in church tomorrow.

As we got back in the car, we got a promoting to go back to her and ask if she wants to be baptized.

It was a prompting that stretched me. We just talked with her. I immediately started thinking of reasons not to, but I remembered counsel that a prompting is from God until proven otherwise.

We got back out and talked to her and gave her the Book of Mormon. We then ask if she wants to be baptized and she accepts. It was a promoting, but it didn't have to work to be one.

Neither do the promptings we have. We never know the effect they can have.

I know God blesses us when we try and when we don't give up but strive to have faith in Him and His Gospel. When we try to live it and try to navigate our way though a world full of commotion and lies. He wants us to have peace and comfort, just as much if not more than He wants us to become like Him.

Everything that's the best in life we want is hard. We earn it, that's why everyone wants those things, because not everyone else has them, but they want the easy way to get it. It's the rarity that makes it valuable.

We are above the world. We have been preserved for this day of age, we know too much and are too great to get caught up in the lies and worthless things if the world. We have divine potential.

We should try to act like it.

If Josepth Smith at the age of 14 was called of God to become a prophet and put his whole life to God.

If Abinadi was willing to die to share the message of the Gospel.

If Jesus Christ, our brother, our advocate, was willing to die and overcome the mistakes, shortcomings, failures, and ignorance for us to return to the Father so we could become like Him.

If President Holland "received an admonition to return to his ministry with more urgency, more consecration, more focus on the Savior, more faith in His word."

What excuse do you have?
