Straight & Narrow

Every day you're confronted with a choice.

Even if you decide not to do "anything" you are still making a choice .

You can decide to be happy or sad.

Every day is another chance to choose .

Believe it or not, every day you chose to follow Satan, your choices become slimmer and slimmer, you literally lose opportunities.

Day in and day out I see and hear about people who have abused there agency, and they not longer have choices.

There is a reason why the path to God is narrow. When you step off you go into a path with slippery paths of addiction and of lust, where you become self serving and dependent.

When you chose God, follow His commandments you "prosper in the land".

You have more opportunities with God.
You gain peace, comfort, knowledge, wisdom, love, patience, and eternal life.

In return you will lose things on your way to God, you will lose bad habits, lust, pain, bad tendencies, sorrow, hopelessness, bad influences, temptation, slothfulness and dependence.

That is why the path is narrow.

You can't carry things of the world, you need both hands to hold onto the Iron Rod. I testify of that.

I testify that it is worth it, every single step you take, and everything you loose is hardly a price to pay for what you gain.

Everything to lose and everything to gain

At the beginning of this transfer, I got a new companion, Elder Bayless. He is amazing, has a great work ethic, and is a blast to work with. We talked about how he wants to start off strong, and myself with not much time left, finish off strong.

We are tired every day, and I could understand why Jesus Christ might have slept on the boat in the storm. Nothing feels more rewarding then going out and working past 9, leaving lunch early because the work feel more rewarding then anything else we could do. That's when I feel the fruit of the Tree Lehi saw in his vision. It is the fruit that is desirable above all.

The mission has had more of an impact on me than I could've imagined. I know God rewards us when we work hard, when we keep going, when we didn’t think we could, when we believe instead of doubt.

I know He loves us, and will magnify our efforts when all we do is keep going with a good desire.

Alma 32:43; Then, my brethren, ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and long-suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you.

I love God, I love His word, I know that there is nothing I can do in this life that is more important than follow Him and do His work. I know that because day by day, little by little, I have decided to chose God.

With no room for pleasantries, chose God, chose today, chose right now. Why wait?

Alma 31:5; And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them— therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God.

Choosing God is up to you.

The Difference

Think of the difference of your life without the Gospel and Jesus Christ's example.  Where would you be now?   What would you be doing?   How much different would your life be?   All that you know, the things that bring you peace, the things you enjoy you have been  blessed with, with all this you have, has it changed you?   One of the hardest things to do in life is change. I’ve reflected on how much the Gospel  has changed me. I feel like I've had 5 years of experience with having only being out for  what feels like a few months.   The Gospel helps us change when we follow it and live it, the change comes naturally  as God blesses us when we try to become like the Son.   As I look back from week to week, I see the change, though little, I see how each week  the Gospel helps me "overcome the world and find rest." New Perspective

I am in Detriot. The city. Downtown. Talk about New Perspective. The adjustment has been an interesting one, but I love it. This will most likely be the last area I serve in. I have moved up closer to some of my favorite missionaries. As I reflect on my mission, my perspective has changed in life completely. Perspective is the way we see things when we look at them from a certain distance and it allows us to appreciate their true value and act accordingly. An example, you don't know how much you miss someone until you don't get to spend as much time with them... Distance kills what's fake and shows you what's real. Perspective is the window you look through to perceive everything. Is your window clean or dirty? Perspective helps you to know where you are now and where you want to go.
