Mission

Now that I have been home for 2 weeks, I can see how much harder it is to keep up the simple habits I have made. The second I was released, I felt those “angels round about you” leave. It was a bittersweet moment and I miss having that presence. I miss not having the opportunity to help people, to meet them and get to help them grow closer to Jesus Christ all day. It is such a privilege to get to serve people and be in such a privileged spot. If there is anything I have learned on my mission, it is that service has and will change your life. Mosiah 2:17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. It truly is wisdom. When I went on my mission, I really was worried about myself, learning the lessons, being a good teacher and looking good in front of others. When I turned outward and upwards, instead of inward and down, my mission changed and my life changed. I...

After All We Can Do

Image
I have come to find that though I have grown on my mission, I also have many weaknesses. At the same time, I think lots of us are aware of our weaknesses we have, the struggles we have, as well as we notice the weaknesses of others. We all share that. We all have struggles. Every single one of us. Moroni in Ether 12 talks about how he recognizes his weakness in writing for himself as well as the previous writers of the Book of Mormon " I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words." "26 And when I had said this, the Lord spake unto me, saying: Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness;" What things do people take advantage of you for? What things do people mock, and ridicule you for? What things do they say behind your back? I am sure we all can think of those things. However, the Lord tells us here that if you are meek, "they shall take no advantage over you." He then i...

We have been recently taught that Trust adds a whole new dimension to Love. What does that trust look like? It might look like this,1 Nephi 4:6; And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do Nephi was called to go get the plates, not how, but he trusted that God would help him, and God trusted that he would do the right thing. He also knew how important the records were. How often are we in a place to be trusted? A place where we notice someones need? A place where we notice someone alone? A place where we notice an opportunity to help? Is that how God trusts us to notice what He would notice, and do what He would do? In 3rd Nephi 17, Every time Jesus Christ taught or said something we see He "cast his eyes round about the multitude." He was looking at the people. 5; And it came to pass that when Jesus had thus spoken, He cast his eyes round about again on the multitude, and beheld they were in tears, and did look steadfastly upon Him as if ...

Are You Ready?

Image
What are your desires right now? What do you want for your future? What do you want to improve? What do you want to stop doing? What do you want to start doing? As you think about those things, if you truly want them, you will not wait. You will start now. President Nelson has told us it is not too early nor too late to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. If you want to live the best life you could every have, filled with joy and "peace that passeth all understanding." Please start now. It all starts with the first step. Plant the seed and do it. Dreams become reality when thoughts become action. Take action now, as you read this. Think of ONE thing you can do right now to become a disciple. It doesn't have to be anything huge, but instead, personal and private. God cares more about the offerer than the offering When you are going to do anything, anything as simple as start your day. You do some personal care, brush your teeth, get dressed. You do this because you are prep...

Wisdom

Image
I've always wondering why King Solomon asked for Wisdom. He had faith God gives true wisdom, which if it wasn't true, it would not be valuable. Every day people tell us they want to have a closer relationship with God. They see and understand that people who do, have a better life in every single aspect of their life. But, for some reason, they don't want to work for it. It's like a winner. A winner will always work for it, but a loser with not. Why is that? What does the winner have that the loser does not? The loser can't get out of bed, but the winner doesn't even want to stay in bed. They have Wisdom. Wisdom that tells them that nothing changes if you don't do anything. Wisdom that tells them what is true, and what is not. Wisdom that tells of what is important and what is not. Wisdom is valuable because it not easy to get, as is a relationship with God. The Holy Ghost gives us wisdom. As we grow closer to God, He trusts us to think as He would think and...

Straight & Narrow

Every day you're confronted with a choice. Even if you decide not to do "anything" you are still making a choice . You can decide to be happy or sad. Every day is another chance to choose . Believe it or not, every day you chose to follow Satan, your choices become slimmer and slimmer, you literally lose opportunities. Day in and day out I see and hear about people who have abused there agency, and they not longer have choices. There is a reason why the path to God is narrow. When you step off you go into a path with slippery paths of addiction and of lust, where you become self serving and dependent. When you chose God, follow His commandments you "prosper in the land". You have more opportunities with God. You gain peace, comfort, knowledge, wisdom, love, patience, and eternal life. In return you will lose things on your way to God, you will lose bad habits, lust, pain, bad tendencies, sorrow, hopelessness, bad influences, temptation, slothfulness and dependen...

Before All This

I have talked before on the value of the knowledge we have because of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The more I study, the more I notice not only the value, but the rarity of it. Especially the pre-mortal life. We are the only religion that not only believes in it, but also has doctrine for it. For some reason they believe that we live after this life, but not before. That there was a war in heaven, but we weren't there. They believe that our decisions in this life affect us in the next, so why wouldn't it make sense that the decisions made in the life before effect where and who we are now? D&C 93:23: Ye were also in the beginning with the Father; that which is Spirit, even the Spirit of truth. Think of it. Before you were here, you were with God the Father, you knew Him, He knew you, He loved you, you loved Him. You chose to come here. I am glad you did. Elder Steven R. Bangerter said, " Throughout our premortal life, we developed our identity and inc...
