After All We Can Do
I have come to find that though I have grown on my mission, I also have many weaknesses.
At the same time, I think lots of us are aware of our weaknesses we have, the struggles we have, as well as we notice the weaknesses of others.
We all share that. We all have struggles. Every single one of us.
Moroni in Ether 12 talks about how he recognizes his weakness in writing for himself as well as the previous writers of the Book of Mormon
" I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words."
"26 And when I had said this, the Lord spake unto me, saying:
Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness;"
What things do people take advantage of you for?
What things do people mock, and ridicule you for?
What things do they say behind your back?
I am sure we all can think of those things. However, the Lord tells us here that if you are meek, "they shall take no advantage over you."
He then in verse 27 shows us how we should look at our weaknesses, so we can become meek
"27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."
So if you come unto Him, He will show you your weakness?
Yes, He does this so that when you humble yourself before Him, repent, confess, He will make those very things you struggle with, that people mock you for, strong.
Your weakness will never become strong if you don't notice it anyway, nor will it become strong if you aren't humble to ask for help, or act on it.
So let them Mock you, you have God on your side when you humble yourself before Him and experience His amazing grace. He will make us strong "after all we can do."
Elder Bruce C. Hafen of the Seventy indicated that our struggle to overcome weakness is central to our purpose here on earth.
This reminds me of a story I heard. I think some of us can relate to having a little road rage.
Imagine you are driving and in a rush, you get upset that the driver in front of you is not only slow, but doesn't seem to know where to go. You get frustrated and curse at the driver for being so dumb.
Imagine now you are with Christ, you're need to go anywhere fast is now gone, He says, do you want to know a story about this driver?
That man you just cussed at, is 85 years old, he just lost his wife to a disease she has been battling for 15 years.
He always drove her to her appointments, he spend *all* his time taking care of her for those 15 years.
Now, he doesn't know how to spend his time, so he drives around not knowing how else to spend his time.
Don't you think we should pray for him?
My family and friends, turning to Jesus Christ, and asking Him to heal us, to show us our weakness, to confess them, is the best thing we can ever do, the Atonement is real and it will help you become strong
So let us do "all we can do" to turn to Him, He will make you more wonderful than you could ever imagine.
