The Difference
Think of the difference of your life without the Gospel and Jesus Christ's example. Where would you be now?
What would you be doing?
How much different would your life be?
All that you know, the things that bring you peace, the things you enjoy you have been blessed with, with all this you have, has it changed you?
One of the hardest things to do in life is change. I’ve reflected on how much the Gospel has changed me. I feel like I've had 5 years of experience with having only being out for what feels like a few months.
The Gospel helps us change when we follow it and live it, the change comes naturally as God blesses us when we try to become like the Son.
As I look back from week to week, I see the change, though little, I see how each week the Gospel helps me "overcome the world and find rest." It helps me know that we are all children of God, and divine.
Those deep questions I have answered as I study and put in effort to learn about God. He does bless us when we learn about Him.
He wants our life to be better. That is why we have this Gospel.
We all have a natural desire to be better in life, rather it be get in better shape, have a better job, car, house, be smart, find solutions to our problems. We want to improve our lives so we are more comfortable and enjoy life more.
I know the Gospel has brought me those things as I have strived to live it. When I've been able to see the big picture, and that we are here to learn and grow, it makes it easier to keep going and know that through Jesus Christ, all will be made right in the end.
We all have things that bring us down, bridges we wish we didn't burn, people we wish treated us better, mistakes we wish we wouldn't have made, but it’s all apart of the process, the plan, to become like Jesus Christ.
As I've been on my mission, I've heard people say "Jesus didn't live a perfect life, He had a terrible life." Jesus didn't have that outlook on life. He knew that He came here to LEARN AND GROW! He was at peace because He knew His potential and what God wanted Him to have. As we follow His example and ask for strength to do so, our life’s will be better in the long run. Even when life throws stones our way, we will heal, we will grow, and keep getting better each day. It's all apart of the plan.
This week I invite you all to reflect on God's purpose and our purpose in life. I know that President Nelson’s promise:
"When your greatest desire is to let God prevail, to be part of Israel, so many decisions become easier. So many issues become non-issues! You know how best to groom yourself. You know what to watch and read, where to spend your time and with whom to associate. You know what you want to accomplish. You know the kind of person you really want to become."
It is true, I have seen it in my life and others. Pray and ask God to help you see your potential in life. The adversary is trying his best to put labels and divide us from one another, making others seem un-human or even our enemy, when we all chose to be here, to live with God
again.
I love you and I know God
loves you.
