Why?

Why don't you do hard things? Why do you do the things you shouldn't? Why don't you always pick the better option? You know it's better for you. But you don’t do it. You pick the easier option. You find the easiest way to do the minimum amount of work. Every second you waste shows you don’t want it bad enough. This is the natural man, which as we read in Mosiah 3:18, is an enemy to God unless, you become as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, and willing to submit your will to the Father. As I have been on my mission, I have seen how the Lord stretches us. He wants us to grow. He loves us too much to leave us where we are. He gives us an opportunity to learn and grow. We just have to be willing to see it that way. One example, this week we were out knocking and this lady immediately says " I've been praying for a sign or message from God and then you showed up." We ended up teaching her about Gods plans and the gospel. I told her that...

Ohio

Change of plans. This is life. As you all know I was told I was going downtown, not down  state. However some things happened in the other district so now I'm follow up  training in Freemont Ohio!  Though it is Ohio, my new companion, Elder Blatter is a great kid. We have fun and  work together very well. He impresses me with how good he is with only being out for 7  weeks.   As I've been here I have seen how people had a bad attitude about coming to Ohio and  how its affected the areas and the people here. There were weeks where the  missionaries just did’t do anything.... because it's Ohio. What a poor attitude to have for  the Lords work in a different spot. I hope to be able to encourage others here to work  hard, it doesn't matter where you are. Seems like some people in life don't want to work  hard.  Something I've learned on my mission is nothing is hard when you want to do it  It's just what you do, when you ...

Elder Kendrick

Sister Kendrick, Elder Goates and I are senior missionaries serving in the Michigan Detroit Mission, specifically in Pontiac. Our district includes Clarkston where your son has just served for six months. The last six weeks, as you know, he was our district leader. We have enjoyed getting to know and work with Elder Kendrick so much, and we were sad to see him leave us at transfers. We did not work very much with Elder Kendrick as his area did not bring him to Pontiac; however, we taught a class for Spanish-speaking students and their families in the Clarkston building for six weeks. We did not have a key, but members were participating and should have been there to let us in. They have families and jobs, and sometimes they were late. We called on the Clarkston elders several times to rescue us, and they were always kind and gracious. We did enjoy district council meetings, Zone and District PDays, and our monthly district dinners with him. Our district thrived under his leadership whe...
